Does
the thought of leaving the City
cause an ache in the pit of your
stomach while images of mini
vans dance in your head? Take a
deep breath. The
bus and
train
to NYC are within walking
distance, but we think we might
be able to save you the fare.
How about a night out at the
movies? In Upper Montclair,
there’s the
Bellevue theater
that plays all of the big budget
Hollywood movies. The
Clairidge Theater shows the
latest "indie" flicks. Our
newest venue, the
Wellmont
Theater, features major
attractions such as, Steely Dan,
Rufus Wainwright and Bill Maher,
just to name a few..
Prefer your theater live?
Montclair's
Luna Stage has three
intimate theaters where you can
see anything from award-winning
plays featuring acclaimed actors
to first-runs put on by local
up-and-comers.
Maybe its live music that
tickles you fancy? We have all
varieties. At
Outpost in
the ‘Burbs famous folkies bring
their music to town every week.
Yogi Berra Stadium hosted a
variety of fantastic outdoor
events this year; from a slew of
“Single A” professional ball
games, to a great classic car
show, to a live country/rock
show with Bob Dylan and Willie
Nelson.
Or you might just want to relax
with some coffee and the paper,
Café Eclectic has comfy couches
to accommodate you, and in the
evening there are poetry
readings or a musical
performance.
If the only haunts you habituate
are
trendy shops, we have plenty
of them here. Whether you’re
hunting Stickley chairs or Eames
sofas, Bloomfield Avenue
provides a variety of possible
stops. Then there’s always the
quest for a perfect pair of
jeans. You can begin at The Gap
and work your way to the height
of jean couture at Ruby on
Church Street. Feather boas to
ermine coats, Craftsman to
crafts, Montclair can indulge
your preference.
